Bournemouth Soundseeing
Bournemouth Soundseeing
This is a little app I've built as an experimental project to use with students of Interactive Media and Radio Production at Bournemouth University.
You can upload audio clips in mp3 format (60 seconds-ish is the general idea), and tie your clips to specific locations.
The interface is built with the Google Maps API; there's a little Flash mp3 player involved too, but what with Javascript and various browsers, it's a little temperamental.

Narrative and Structuralism and the brothers Grimm
This flash movie allows the user to take the core narative elements of a traditional fairytale, and place them into the narrative in a non-linear (interactive) order: it then performs a structuralist analysis on the narrative elements. Well, it does these things insomuch as a machine is able to do these things (i.e. as well as I can turn them into an algorythm :^)
Horse
Animated galloping horse, inspired by Muybridge, who photographed motion in many moving subjects in the early days of photography.
This animation was made for a class, to illustrate the basic principles of stop-motion animation. Download the source file here.
threeDworld
Stephan:
threedworld from a tutorial file in Computer Arts, hashing a three d game in Director 8.5... a student coder's complaint:
"perhaps all my models are too low on the vertical axis, though I put landscape on 0 and the other world contents on 37.
Videoediting wasn't very fun either, as I now save a new copy of my file after each progress."
Tapioca Balls
Hi Janet
How do you like these cute balls :-)
Obviously they don't have menus attached to them right now, and they do tend to overlap and wander off stage from time to time, but they are a little mindless at the moment. If you like them, we can make them avoid each other and keep them from following the pied piper off the screen...

Hmmm. Somebody just just told me they look like panting frogspawn, which may not be what you're after for a bubble tea site? How about these.

LCF IT Dept Website
LCF IT Dept Website
We (me and my good pal Ben Gaunt) set up and developed a LAMP test server as an IT dept intranet web resource. Compiled Apache with Php built in to access a MySQL database of tutorial and learning materials. This link is a mirror of an early snapshot - the site was only available inside the college firewall.
Update: web hosting moved: only version of that early snapshot now is here on the wayback machine. If you're lucky you might even see an early attempt to make a mock Photoshop interface tutorial in Flash.
LCP - Intro to web design
LCP Web Design Course Support Website
A little collection of tutorials, resources and links related to the classes on my FE course Introduction to Web Page Design. My favourite part of the course comes from Jannis:
I have been trying to learn javascript and flash action script and to say the least it is making my head hurt. I don't know if I should feel thankfull for introducing me to all this stuff or to hate you.
