University of Nottingham Global Map

The University of Nottingham Global Map is a site exposing the world-wide activities of the university in research and enterprise. The site was designed by Campbell Rowley as a cartographic interface which can be used to navigate content by exploring the world map. The interface is built using Leaflet.js to manage the assets pulled in via a REST API implemented in Slim PHP.

I worked with Chris and the team at Campbell Rowley to design and implement the back-end architecture and role-based access control system used in the site. I wrote a library of tools which could be used to automatically pull in geo-tagged content from YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and Flickr using UoN's social media accounts which could then be moderated by the site admin and published to the site.
